What God is doing in my life

Image
If y’all know much about me you know I recently graduated in May of 2019 I graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling and this past December I graduated with a Master of Divinity in missions.  It’s kind of crazy and awesome at the same time because I basically graduated with two degrees back to back.  I’m not sure how God is going to use these degrees in my life but I am just following Him in faith knowing He will show me the next step and the next step and the next step. If you know me you probably know I’ve been praying about what God wants me to do next.   I don’t know when exactly it was but 3 or 3 years ago I started the process to become certified as an ACBC counselor.  If you aren’t sure what that is it is the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.   The past few years have been an exciting and challenging adventure.  I went to my first biblical counseling conference in Florida and t...

Cairn-a spiritual marker through life

On Sunday  I learned from my pastor about how a cairn is a trail marker that experienced hikers will leave so others will not get lost and will know how to get on the right path.  He talked about how we have life groups and how life groups are helping us to get on the right path in life.  I’m thankful to have a pastor who encourages us to read the word of God and to grow deeper in our walk with Christ.  I’m thankful that he sees the role of community in that and helps us to see it also.  I’m thankful for my Sunday School teacher Clark Vangilder and his wife Gia and how they make me feel welcome and challenge me in my walk with God and help me to learn about the Bible.   Satan tries to make me feel like I am a failure but I am thankful that God reminds me who I am and who I belong to.  I’m thankful for the things in my life that I can look at and know that it is a result of God and that  it couldn’t have happened any other way.  People may ...

Discipleship

What does discipleship mean? What does it mean to invest in the life of another? What does it mean to live life together? What does it mean to encourage and edify one another? What does it look like in real life?  It is speaking the truth in love to one another.  It’s loving someone enough to talk to them when they are living in sin and to pray for them and with them.  It is encouraging them when they are discouraged.  It is living life with others.  It is more than just saying hello or welcome to somebody on Sunday morning.  It is investing in the life of another.  Can we say that we really do this or have we gotten too busy and focused on ourselves to do this?  Life is hard.  We need to pray for and encourage one another as we run the race to win the prize in Christ Jesus.
