Following after God wherever He leads
Hawai'i is something God has been putting on my heart for several years. A few months ago I started seriously praying about moving to Hawai'i. When people think of Hawai'i the first thing that pops into their head might not necessarily be a mission field but that is what I believe it is and that is where I believe that God has called me to go.
When I searched on google it said that 39.98 percent of the people in Honolulu are religious; 18.57 percent are Catholic, 5.20 percent are LDS, and 3.76 are Christian. There is a great need for the gospel in Hawaii. I was talking to a pastor in Honolulu, Pastor Matt Sanders, and he was saying that life in Hawai'i isn't as easy as people necessarily think it is. You can't get things immediately.
The culture in Hawai'i is different for one thing but that is one thing that I love about it. They have their own time in Hawai'i. Things are done in Hawaiian standard time. Things are more laid back in Hawai'i. Also when I talked to this pastor I believe that he was saying that there is about 30 percent Japanese people, and about 20 percent Filipino people there. When people think of Hawaii they usually think of white and non-white people but that is not really the case.
I believe that God has called me to work at Waialae Baptist Church in Hawaii. I will hopefully be helping with music there at their music camp there as well as teaching music lessons. I believe that God has prepared me for this opportunity in my life. The times that God told me no for different times were really because He was preparing me for this moment in my life. God has provided me with people that have helped me grow spiritually as well as in other ways. He has given me a passion for evangelism and discipleship and has provided me with people that have the same passion as me. I was talking to Pastor Matt Sanders wife, Cheryl Sanders and she was saying it was amazing how somebody can feel called to a place they have never been to. God has given me a love for the people in the culture in Hawai'i and has given me a love for a place I have never been. That is how great our God is! God has provided me with opportunities to learn how to lead worship as well as improve in my acoustic guitar and bass guitar skills. There are so many other things as well that God has done in my life!

Aloha! I'll continue to support you in prayer. There is a huge homeless ministry need in Hawaii also. The majority of Hawaiians, real authentic Hawaiians live way below the poverty line. It is a beautiful place. I pray God blesses you as you embark on this new journey.
ReplyDeleteThat is so amazing!!! Thank you for sharing your heart for this with us. I look forward to hearing what happens next. I am also encouraged to also seek God about what He may want me to do, even if it includes moving to somewhere I have never been! Thank you.
