Waiting on God when it seems like there aren't any answers

I'm going to share more of my story with you and more about my calling to Hawai'i.

When I was younger, I (along with thousands of other people at least probably) watched the movie Soul Surfer.  I had always been drawn to Hawai'i since I was really young but learning about Bethany Hamilton's story made me even more drawn to it.

I listened to Sarah Rachel Hill's testimony and heard about how God had called her to go to Kauai, Hawaii as a missionary. She said that when God first called her to go to Hawaii she remembers apologizing to Him saying "God that's just my flesh, you don't call people to Hawai'i."  After that she had a dream that she was on stage watching thousands of teenagers surrounding the stage and they all fell over and were dying.  Somebody told her, "See Sarah, because you didn't go they are dying without Jesus."

Listening to her testimony about how God had called her to go to Hawai'i was when God begin to put it on my heart to go to Hawai'i.  I love the culture and the people there.

When people think of Hawai'i they don't necessarily think at first at least that it is a hard place to go and it's true it's a beautiful place there.  But Hawai'i has it's different hardships and challenges.  There is a lot of homeless people in Hawai'i and there is a great need for the gospel of Christ and the light of Jesus Christ to penetrate the hearts and lives of people there.

My heart is also for discipleship.  There is a great need in a lot of churches for discipleship.  I believe discipleship is important and that it is important for us to come alongside other believers and encourage each other and exhort each other to live more like Christ.  My other passion is music-writing music and teaching music.  I want to teach young students how to really learn to master their instruments (whether it is an actual instrument or their voice) so that they can use it in a way that glorifies God.

My desire when I go to Hawai'i is to teach at the Hawai'i Baptist Academy (HBA) in Honolulu.  I don't know exactly what this will look like but I would like to teach music there and to help the students there to know what it means to worship God using music and through their life!

Waiting on God for all the answers is hard and in my flesh and excitement I want things to happen right now but I know that God has a perfect timing for everything.  My goal is to be able to teach at the Academy in the fall even if it is just substitute teaching.  Please pray that God would show me what it is that He wants me to do.  I know that He's got a plan for me and He will work out all the details for me so that my life will bring Him glory and point others to Christ.  Aloha nui loa! (Much love to y'all!)

  1. Lifting you up Lisa! All things in His time. There is a great need for the gospel in Hawaii. There are so many homeless, and the poverty rate among the locals is high as well. God bless you for wanting to share His love to them.
