Waiting on God

I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since I came to Hawaii.  I love the people here and the way of life here.  Most of all I love what God has taught me here.  I love how He has stretched me and challenged me and brought me out of my comfort zone to help me become more like Christ.  I’m thankful for growth because if we’re not growing then what are we doing?  Every day is a day to spend time with God and to know and love Him more; to love and serve others and to die to self.  That is what He is teaching me now.  It is difficult sometimes but it is worth it because it helps you to become more like Christ and it is God glorifying!

One of the most important things to me lately has been studying God’s Word more and learning more about it.  I want to know what it says and I want to know what it says to me.  I want to be open to God’s leadership in my life Moment by Moment.  I’ll never forget my mentor Mary Kaye Wonner saying “order my steps Lord.”  God gave her a song that she wrote called Moment By Moment and I’ve been blessed to hear it.

This song means a lot to me, especially right now as I’m praying for God’s direction in my life.  I’m praying God where is it that you want me?  Where do you want me so that I can obey you and love and serve others and bring you the most glory?  This fall I am praying about doing a biblical counseling internship here in Hawaii and I am also praying about doing a biblical counseling internship in Texas.  I know one thing wherever He leads I’ll go and I know wherever He leads me I’ll be a different person and will be more prepared for His calling on my life. I know God is going to use this summer, this time and the people I am with to change me and to help me be more prepared for what God has for me and what He has called me to do.  I know because He has already done it.  Thank y’all for your prayers! Lets be sure to run the race well so we can win the heavenly prize in Christ Jesus!! Love y’all and am thankful for you!!!

It’s a new year

Man I’ve turned 35.  I’m another year older. I guess it’s only downhill from here I guess or uphill haha.  I’d like to say I’m another year wiser and that I’m more like Christ and I definitely think I’m more like Christ. I think God has given me more wisdom also.  I’m just not anywhere near where I want to be.  Today was just another day really.  I didn’t really do much to celebrate it.  I went to Starbucks with a sweet friend who gave me a present.  I was kind of disappointed that I didn’t really have a party or anything even though other friends had had parties.  I realized that I was just being selfish and self focused. My journey of Faith and how God has guided me

                           “A man’s heart plans his way but the Lord directs His steps.”  Proverbs 16:9 I’ve been thinking about this verse a lot lately and how true it has been in my life.  When I went home for Christmas after I graduated with my MDiv in Missions in December my plan was to find a biblical counseling internship somewhere.  I had looked different places but nothing had worked out. I looked on the biblical counseling website which is the website for the Association of Certified Biblical Counseling.  I had looked at Washington and it didn’t work out and I looked in Oregon and one of the first names I saw was Mitch Lamotte.  On December 29 I emailed Mitch Lamotte from Southwest Hills Baptist Church about doing a biblical counseling internship at their church.  He told me about the biblical counseling pastor at the church, Kerry Francetice. ...
