Serving in Hawaii and what I learned from God from doing landscaping in Fort Worth

I can’t believe my summer in Hawaii has about come to an end! It has gone too fast! My dreams have come true this summer and I have had an opportunity of a lifetime!  I feel like my life will never be the same after this summer and that it has become part of a new beginning for me.   There have been times here that have been really frustrating where I’ve wondered why I came and there have been really good and it has been so clearly evident that God was working in my life.  Every moment that has happened here though has stretched me and grown me and helped me to be the person God has created me to be.  It has helped prepare me more for God’s calling on my life.   I believe that each person God has brought into my life here and each experience that I have had here in Hawaii has helped to shape me into the person that God wants me to be.

When I was at seminary I worked in landscaping for a semester.  The first day I got right into working and planted flowers near the koi pond at the seminary.  I was really disappointed at first because my flowers didn’t really seem like much and you couldn’t see what they were really, whereas the girl who I was working with had really pretty flowers.  I came by though a few weeks later to that same section and it was the most beautiful flowers.  I couldn’t believe I had been blessed to be a part of such a beautiful process.  I feel like that is the same with our lives.  Sometimes we may not feel we have as much to offer as other people.  Or sometimes when we look at our lives we may not always be able to see what God is doing in our life.  We may look at it and it may seem like that flower, maybe you can’t even see the flower,  but if you trust God and stay close to Him and seek to obey Him and draw close to Him pretty soon you will look back, and like the beautiful flowers I saw, you will see that God has done an amazing work in your life! Keep pressing forward friends and loving God! He will never leave or forsake you and He will never give up on you! Love you and am thankful for you!!

  1. What a great analogy of how God continues to work in our lives for His glory and honor. I can hardly wait to hear even more about how our Heavenly Father has blessed you this summer.
Our Heavenly Father will continue to give you the desires of your heart as you delight yourself in
    Him.
