Live your life for God no matter what

I’ve been thinking a lot about life lately and about the people God has brought into my life and what they have taught me.  Tonight I was thinking about my friend and mentor Kaycee.  Kaycee passed away from sarcoma cancer a little over two years ago.  Whenever I see butterflies or flowers I think of her.  I remember we started meeting to go over the heart of the problem.  She told me that when she first saw me across campus that God told her we would be friends.  It was because of her and her husband Matthew that I started going to Biblical Counseling and because of that my heart was able to  start to be healed by God and my life has been changed so much.   People talk about abuse but sometimes it doesn’t even have to be physical or mental abuse by another person.  Sometimes it can just be the lies you tell yourself.  You can compare yourselves to others; you can tell yourself that you are not good enough, not pretty enough, not talented enough, but those are all lies! I almost wonder if that is a tactic of the devil to keep us focused on ourselves instead of focused on God!  If there’s one thing I leaned from Kaycee’s life it is the importance of loving God and letting your love of God impact all of your other relationships! Kaycee loved others well because she loved God well! Everybody that knew Kaycee considered her to be their best friend!  When others who know me think of me I want them to know they are loved by me! I want to see how much I love God and how much I love them!  I will always remember Kaycee showing me truths from scripture and just pouring truth into my life!  I went to her one time because I felt like I struggled with being selfish and I couldn’t get over it.  She asked me if I had been praying about it and how.  She talked to me about the difference in asking God to help you stop sinning and genuinely confessing for and repenting of the sin in your life and asking God to help you live your life according to His Word!  Some of my other mentors have talked to me about that also.  One of my mentors talked to me about praying to God and specifically confessing the sin in your life and even asking God to show me the sin in my life.  Y’all life goes fast and if you just live for yourself or for this moment or for anything on this earth it’s going to feel empty.  It may feel great at the time but it will just lead you to wanting more and more and may even lead to depression.  The things of this earth will never satisfy you! Keep pursuing God and the things of God and living your life for Him!  He is the only one who can bring you satisfaction and who can give you peace!  When you sin just repent and confess your sin to God and start over living your life for Him! Every day is a new day and a chance to know God better and to show the world the hope that is in you because of the Christ that is in you!  Christ in us the hope of glory!  Keep running the race y’all! Because of Christ we are victorious over sin and death!  Much Aloha and until then, A hui hou!
