Discipleship
Pastor Matt Sanders has been doing a sermon series on being disciples and discipleship. It’s made me think about a lot of things. Why do are we content (myself included) to just go to church and read the Bible but not actually live life together? Why are we so focused on ourselves that we don’t stop to help a brother or sister who might be living in sin? Why don’t we serve together and work more towards unity? Why are we not always healthy churches? Why don’t we live the life that God has called us to do. I feel like part of it might be lack of knowledge. Maybe we are so used to things the way they have always been. If it was good enough in the 1960’s or the -990’s it’s good enough for now. Part of it might be because we are confirming too much to the culture and living/looking too much like the world. Part of it might be complacency and maybe even some laziness. We know what we need to do (myself included) and yet we don’t really want to do it. We don’t want to see change, maybe out of fear maybe for some other reason. We need to pray and ask God to give us the strength and focus and endurance to do what He has called us to do. Let’s run the race with faithfulness because Jesus is worth it, and because His love is worth it. Let’s do it because we love Jesus.
