How we know we love God

I was listening to the January 6th worship service from Kalihi Union Church today.  The pastor there is Jonathan Steeper.  He is a really godly man and knows the word of God well.  Near the beginning of the service he always talks to the children for a few minutes.  Today he was talking to them about the Ten Commandments.  One thing he said to them was “As you grow as children you will know you are growing to be like Jesus when you don’t do things on the outside because someone tells you to but you do them on the inside because you want to.” I believe this is something that everyone needs to remember.  The way we will know we love Jesus and are becoming more like Jesus is if we do the things He wants us to do not because it is a requirement or because we are checking off the marks on our spiritual checklist but we will know we love Jesus and are becoming more like Him when we do the things He asks us to do because we want to.  Sometimes we do things because we think the expected of us or maybe we have another reason but when we do it because we want to please God and because we love Him and want to do it that is when we will know we are becoming more like Christ.  Thankful for y’all and thankful that we get to run this race together! Let’s stay faithful to run this race and to point others to Jesus and bring glory to God with our life!
