Walk in a manner worthy of your calling
"Therefore I (Paul), the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." Ephesians 4:1-3
It is easy to lose focus of the calling on our lives. It is easy to forget what God has called us to and to walk worthy of that calling. It is easy to live more like the world and less like Christ and focus more on ourselves and our desires than on Christ and others. I guess that is why it says, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me." Matthew 16:24
I was listening to a sermon by Pastor Matt Sanders from Waialae Baptist Church that he had preached this summer, and he reminded me of how we are to "walk in a manner of our calling", and how walking involves action. As a church we are not to just gather together and read the Bible, although that is important, but we are to walk together and serve together and work actively towards unity. Let's not forget to walk together in a manner worthy of our calling and when one of us falls or is caught in sin lets not forget to speak the truth in love, correcting one another--"as iron sharpens iron so one person sharpens another." Proverbs 27:17

This blog is such a great picture of how we are to listen to what God wants us to do and focus on discerning His will for our lives. This is a great reminder for all of us.
